My horse is pretty good in the trailer, but sometimes steps on his own feet when going round corners. He has ruined travel boots (and got upset when he pulled them down), so he now wears 4 neoprene over reach boots instead. He gets through these too though! I am thinking of trying Westropp petal boots - more expensive but would be worth it if they protect his feet and don't get trashed each time out... What do you think, people?

Have you tried the old fashioned rubber ones? They are a bit cheaper to replace if he does rip them but they seem quite tuff as they are a bit thicker than the neoprene ones?

Old fashioned rubber ones didn't last either... I'll have a look at sheepskin lined, but they sound expensive! Latest were neoprene with plastic cover (and good price) which I thought might last, but he ripped one... I haven't bandaged as he's so fidgety before going anywhere that I wouldn't be sure the bandages were secure.

I think WW makes some teflon ones? They don't look like much but they might be a bit tougher? Unless the teflon is just to keep the mud from sticking :p

My horse used to tread on himself all the time in the field- neoprene on its own isn't very strong- I would go for something with a tough outer. I have the woof wear neoprene inner/pvc outer and find they have stood up quite well to some treading on and they come up nice and big so they cover the whole hoof, not just the bulbs of the heel like some boots. and not too expensive! :)

My mare hates travelling boots so I use the premier equine sport boots and over reach boots. She is more settled and doesn't rip them to pieces.
