I need help please.
My mare sometimes wears over reach boots , the Velcro ones, rubber type as she sometimes springs her front shoe. Only when it's muddy and being stupid!
However had them on for a few hours Sunday and once again the back of her pasterns are rubbed raw and as its muddy I have to now make sure it doesn't get infected turn to mud fever :/

Any advise on an over reach boot that won't rub her, when we do need to use them.

Mine used to rub if they had a ridge round just below the rim. I found material ones better, rubber was worst at rubbing.

I use Pariani overreach boots every day on my thin skinned arab, he wears them 24.7 during the summer when turned out and day time in the winter.

THEY DO NOT RUB!!!

I have tried many different types. I found neoprene the worst for rubbing. Sheepskin was a nightmare to keep clean. The petal types also rubbed, as did the kevlar type ones and of course the velco rubber tye.

Pariani are expensive at about £20 a pair but the last forever. I still have a pair on the go are that are 4 years old.

What about getting the neoprene ones instead of the rubber ones?

The stallions at work are turned out in these exact ones in rain, hail, shine, dry paddocks, muddy ones and have never had rubs... they are pretty hard on them too :)

Those exact ones rubbed my mare! They are quite hard IMO. I have hkm fleece lined ones that don't rub and have lasted very well!

Ive had this issue!! Its annoying! I tried soo many different types the best being woof wear, show sheen also works to to prevent rubbing just spray it on before the boots go on! :)

My mare has to wear over reaches in the field and this happened to her. I bought some Escadron material one's with the fleece at the top and not had a problem since.

I had this problem too - the rubber and neoprene ones rubbed my gelding so I use the ones with sheepskin now, problem solved!

Please tell me how you keep the sheepskin and fleece mud free? How do you clean them over night for use the next day as I found they went hard being dried on a heater overnight?

When I tried them they became saturated very quickly, they held mud and wet against my horses skin and he ended up with mud fever on his heels.
