Need to get some over reach boots for SJ. Which would be best, the normal rubber ones with velcro fastening, or these

Or feel free to direct me to any others, but must be under a tenner including postage.

He doesnt usually over reach but want them for extra protection.

Thanks

It depends on what surface you'll be jumping on. The neoprene boots tend to act like a sponge and soak up any water, making them quite heavy, and soggy.
Personally I prefer the rubber ones, as they can just be rinsed clean afterwards.
There's ballistic over-reach ones as well, but are a bit out of your price range - Premier equine do them, and they're a lot more solid than either rubber or neoprene.

I was looking on premier equine as was going to get some fetlock boots aswell, will have a look. As they are only for SJ and he doesnt usually over reach I didnt want to spend loads, if he did over reach I would be willing to spend more to protect him. All jumping indoors atm but I expect most of if will be outside either on outdoor surface or grass in the summer.

And the petal boots - I do like them, I just hate the noise they make

I use plain rubber pull ons for everyday turn-out/hacking - I used to use the velcro rubber ones but found he pulled them off all the time.

When doing SJ I use petal ones - I quite like the flicky noise as it helps with my striding!

Over XC I used neoprene ones if I know there is not a water jump or if the ground is dry. If the ground is boggy or there is water I use rubber ones.

Just a small point, I do not like the OR boots that have a built in fat, weighted bit at the horses heel - they rubbed the beast raw after one outing
