I need to get a pair for big bill however not sure which ones are best. Need your help! There seems to be such a huge range of them now

They'd be used for schooling/flatwork so was looking at sheepskin topped ones but the arena is sand so not sure if the sand would get trapped & irritate. Or if the ballistic ones would be too tough for flatwork. Then there are the soft shell ones compared to the hard ones... Really don't know!

I don't need them for jumping as I just use bog standard rubber ones so will tear easily if trodden on & cheap to replace.

Suggestions welcome! :)

I use the PE Kevlar OR boots, but I only ever use them for XC when she's studded. Sorry if that doesn't help!

I have some decathlon ones, I really like them, about a third of the price of some of the "brands". A similar looking and priced product is on Mitchell moor website, a French brand. I'd suspect it's the same product just branded differently

For flatwork I don't think you can go wrong with the Le Mieux range, I have the leather ones (think they were about £20) and they fit well, wear well and clean up really nicely, just clean them with saddle soap. I don't think OR boots need sheepskin on the top if they fit well and are good quality, sheepskin on OR boots is a bit of a gimmick I think and as you say, a pain to clean.

Thanks everyone:) given me stuff to think about!

Now trying to decide if it's worth getting ballistic ones, to provide more protection. Mainly because hoping to increase our level of work/higher movements & im a newbie at the higher levels so want to make sure he's protected from me :p

True about the sheepskin, plus they probably would go orange v quickly in the sand!

My boy is a serial trasher of OR boots so I've tried a few. I do like the neoprene ones from Masta, they've lasted well. Also like the shires bell boots with s/skin for schooling. Just bought the woof wear kevlar but they're quite stiff so not sure yet about the git until I try them. But I still think the best are the basic shires velcro plastic ones.

I really like my PE Kevlar no turn ballistic boots, got them on sale for £12 and found ten really hard wearing and a nice fit. Use them for everything. Also have a pair of PE standard neoprene ones, also love these but only use for hacking as longer at back and don't want her catching them in the school when we are learning to balance canter.
