My horse got back shoes on for the first time in a few years and as a result her front shoe has come off twice in 3 weeks!
She has never lost a shoe before this so I’ve bought over reach boots today and farrier is putting her shoe back on Friday. Can she wear over reach boots 24/7? As she is always in the field. Is there anything else that could be wrong or does over reaching sound like the problem? I was thinking it could be the mud but it’s strange that it was the exact same shoe twice.

It could be something your farrier is or isn't doing. When mine was shod he would pull a shoe every now and again, he does overreach. He lived in over reach boots 24/7. The rubber kind were best for him.

Robin lived in rubber over reach boots. If very muddy I would hose out underneath but pretty well just left them alone. I used to take off overnight while in and realised I was just causing myself more work and the Velcro deteriorated quicker if being taken on and off.

He put the exact same type of shoes she always had on and the 3 other ones stay on perfectly so I’m reluctant to blame the poor man but if it persists I will have to see

I got her neoprene boots as she can sometimes be a bit sensitive to rubbing
