over-reaching

Can anyone out there offer some advice on how to stop my hunter overreaching. He had a deep cut 6 weeks ago which we patiently waited to heal, then took him out hunting again and he openned up the same deep wound!
He is very fast and overjumps everything.
Ive no faith in overreach boots having had bad falls when a horse has trodden on them.

I have seen people hunting with Vetrap and duck tape wrapped around their horse's pastern and coronet band. I presume this is to keep a wound clean but it might work as a preventative measure too.

how about no back shoes? not very practical l know!

No hind shoe or ask farrier to set hinds a bit further back

If u use the pull on boots rather than the velcro ones they are supposed to be able to pull them off if they do step on them.
