First a little Background.........my mare is a very highly strung stressy, tense type, which when doing dressage i can't canter in the warm up as she just explodes! She is a very capable mare (before i got her she was getting plus 70% affiliated, but it's taking me a while to get to grips with her)The last couple of dressage tests we have done have been very very average, the last one she totally boiled over and exploded. My favourite comment form last time was "exciting transistions"! So i was not expecting much out of the baggage yesterday. The aim of yesterdays test was to actually walk when we were supposed to (we normally jog!)

However the baggage is no longer called the baggage as she was a saint. Did a lovely test....by no means the best but was happy with it. Could have been rounder in places but she was so chilled for her i knew if i started asking to much she would start to tense, which is a road to disaster with her. We also got a wrong canter lead in the second canter but never mind Waited for the results, wasn't expecting anything........We were 2nd with 64.4% (winner was 64.8!) This means we have qualified for the regionals (UK Chasers). So i am over the moon and i got a lovely comment at the end: "This super mare will get v.good marks when she is a little more consistent in her outline. Way of going v. promising, well ridden!" So i'm one happy bunny!!!

However i don't know if Bea is just starting to behave or thanx goes to the new calmer she has been on for a few weeks which i think has had an effect, but i also tried some So Kalm paste but it wasn't in her system for long enough as they were running 40 mins early!!

But anyway i am so pleased with the baggage sorry i mean Bea!!!!!!

Well done, I've heard a few people use that paste with good results. Good luck at the regionals

Oh well done. I know exactly how you must have felt. Gen has had a few months break from competing due to his nerves and the tenseness which meant in his last test he did a beautifully vertical rear. Weeks of back to basics and hard work and Gen seems to have settled a bit more (fingers crossed).

Its so frustrating when you KNOW they can do it but doesnt it feel great when it comes together.

Now, I'm sure I wrote a similar comment when I was judging the prelim at High Plains on Sunday ..............

Well done! It was a very promising test. Good luck for the regionals.

I'm not a listed judge so I can't judge affiliated but I judge riding club and pony club, and also sometimes at Kirkley Hall and Swarland. I compete 2-3 times a month so I can only really judge when I have a rare free weekend.
