I think I accidentally gave my horse too much wormer in her feed tonight (she is getting the Panacur 5-day) - will she be ok? She will have to get less tomorrow (her last day of the course) sorry just a bit worried now ...

She'll be fine - there's a huge safety margn with most wormers. The ones you need to very careful with are the 'moxidectins' (sp?) ie Equest. They are excellent wormers, bt you need to make sure that you are giving the correct dosage as per the manufacturers instructions.
A friend recently gave nearly a whole tube of equimax to a miniature shetland - a frantic phone call to the vets followed, but they didn't seem at all bothered, & the mare was fine!

Should be fine, Girl up yard gave her horse the whole 5 day course of Panacur and the horse was fine (daft cow only realised when she saw us worming the next day - seems she didn't bother reading the instructions at all).

My previous vet reckoned, and from I know now I think he was right, that you needed to double dose the 5 day course to do any good. So, if horse needed x a day give xx or won't work, so I expect you will be fine.

i really would not be worried!! panacur has been extensivley tested at way over reccommended levels with no adverse effects, in fact i would be far more worried about under dosing as this is leading to so much resistance in the u.k. i would give the full recommended dose tommorrw and as with ANY wormer just keep and eye, common sense really!
