Having looked at the other thread I have to say well done Chris for coming on line...
I have been to Overa Farm, have friends who have bought horses from there and been happy with them. All dealers are going to have good and bad results and if a horse is open to vet and it passes the vetting surely anything after that day is not the dealers fault? No one makes people buy from them.
I agree with you on that Clodagh - there are good and bad stories for all dealers I think.
Often a lot of the 'horror stories' are from people who have not been upfront about their own capabilities and have bought a horse from a dealer who within a couple of weeks as well an truly got the new owners number and proves to be unsuitable! Cue new owner blaming dealer for selling them a 'crazy' horse.
Ok, so dealers who knowingly sell lame or dangerous animals and doping them up to cover it are despicable (as any private seller doing the same is). But as you said, if the horse has been tried properly by the purchaser, been vetted etc then i never quite get how it's the dealer's fault when things go wrong afterwards!?
We bought Beanie from Chris before they moved to Overa and still at Linkwood. She has to be the best ponio we have EVER had. We had excellent support from Chris and I would defo go back to her. As with any dealer, you HAVE to know what you are looking at. I have recommended other people to her and they have also been very satisfied with the service.
