Overreach boots & Dressage at ODE's? Help?!

My mare has had remedial shoes since last summer, which are specifically wider than the average shoe, to encourage the hoof to grow outwards, creating a wider surface area for the sole. Over the winter she pulled 2 shoes off in the field soon after being shod. We put it down to the deep ground in her field, but put overreach boots on her all the time, as she likes a good old mad run every so often. Before the remedial shoes she's never pulled a shoe off, and never worn overreach boots. She is only shod infront and isn't close moving infront. She's worn overreach boots/bell boots since January, full time at home.

Last thursday we went to her first ODE of the year, and we took her overreach boots off, as to abide by the rules for the dressage. As we were warming up she pulled a shoe off (She was last shod 2 weeks ago), she hadn't been silly, nor had I noticed it had come off. The ODE did not have a farrier on-site nor on call, so 3 hours of driving and £50 entry fee was wasted, aswell as a lot of time, and we toddled off home very disapointed.

I have booked into her next ODE for 2 weeks time, and I'm wondering what to do about this dressage lark?

Am I right in thinking I need a vets note if I want to do the dressage in overreach boots? And If I did this would I be marked down?

I've never really had this problem before! Any help much appreciated!
 
You dont have to warm up for dressage bootless, so if I were you I would keep the OR boots on until the last minute, and keep your fingers crossed that she doesnt pull one off while in the test!

Even with vet note you wont be able to compete with them on. Been there, done it! Best idea is like has just been said, warm up in them and whip them off the sec before you go in the ring.
 
Could you not just wrap her feet in either black veteran or duck tape to give you some protection while doing the dressage phase
 
Your best bet is to get some one to remove them just before you go down the centre line. Sorry its probably not the news you wanted.
