I have a 15.2 Connemara gelding who is nearly into week three of his eight weeks box rest. He has been shod with bar shoes and my farrier has suggested it would be prudent to use overreach boots when he is eventually allowed to be turned out to avoid the front shoes being torn off. This set of shoes has just cost me £200 so I would like to keep them safe. Never used them before and would welcome advice.

I would buy one size larger than you need so that the back of the front feet are really protected.

My farrier recommended just a bog standard rubber pair by Shires. They have been brilliant! Very simple to put on with good sturdy Velcro straps.

I have heard that the “pull on” ones can be quite a pain!

Also a good idea to buy a really bright colour so if you lose one it’s easier to find in the field!!!
