Well, to start with, I'm not the teacher's pet and I don't know what your sig looked like - was it huge? If it was a big signature then I can see why someone would complain about it. There are rules about the size of signatures, and they apply because large ones make the page stretch and mean that people not only have to scroll up and down but also have to scroll side to side to read everything. The same happens when people can't be bothered to resize their pictures before posting them.
Sometimes, Admin will notice signatures without being alerted to them and will ask you to remove or resize.
I'm not the teacher's pet either but I know that when I joined the forum I agreed to the t&c's, which ban advertising. I presume you did too.
I can actually think of 2 reasons why advertising is not allowed on the forum.
1, H&H sell advertising to help to fund this forum
2,Most people read posts to share useful information and do not want the page cluttered up with other people's adverts, certainly if I want to read adverts, I go to Horsemart or similar.
I have to say your post reminds me a little of school too, at my school we have the rule 'Every rule is for everybody'. Some children do find that this is a difficult concept.
Charlie,
There was a big thing about this last year and admin said they would close the accounts of those breaking t & c by using their sigs to advertise.
We could all use our sigs to advertise, but then H&H would not make any money from their classifieds.
Admin probably noticed it themselves, to be honest. They're not daft on that front. If someone else mentioned it to them then I'm guessing it is probably someone who has been pulled up for it themselves - I know it riles me when I see people doing something I've had slapped wrists for, and getting away with it! Sad but true. However, I have never 'shopped' anyone to admin.
The most annoying ones for me are the ones that say 'oh what to do with my 17.5" Bates' or similar, as they are clearly advertising but trying to get round the T and Cs.
Sorry you were caught out, but H&H does have a classifieds section.
How does one go about complaining to admin about these things? I know the is the little notify modertor button but does anyone actually use that? I wonder if the admin would take matters further next time I'm being called an idiot
Yes, it's a saying of one of my colleagues and we have actually adopted it as one of our school rules. Our pupils are Infants but it is applicable to all ages, and as I said, some children (and their parents) really struggle with the concept.
