Found this webpage on the Horseracing Regulatory Authority Website;-'Why they ran badly' !! So have posted it up here as I thought it would be interesting for some of you guys who have racehorses- you can pick up a few pointers on what happened to your horse in its career!

I found a little bit of info on both Forrest and Cheeks!!

'Greg Fairley, the rider of DESERT STREAM (IRE), reported that the gelding ran too free to post. The Stewards ordered DESERT STREAM to be routine tested' (this is Forrest- anyone know what 'running free to post' means exactly??)

And found this on Cheeks;

'WINCANTON:B.G. Powell, the trainer of Xcentra, reported that following the race the gelding scoped badly.'

Anyway just a random bit of info! thought that this was an interesting site! Just type in your horses name in the 'search by keyword' box.

Martin Dwyer, the rider of WITCHES BROOM, reported that the filly had lost her action.

Awww!! Bless ! that is lucky cos some horses have reports such as 'horse lame, horse had breathing problem, horse over the top etc etc so I guess no news is good news!

Have to say though, so many of the flat racers seem completly crippled, it is really sad. Went to Tattersalls horses in training sales once- nearly all the horses I saw being trotted up could literally barely trot.

Alternative report:
Intersky Sovereign, aaaaaarrrrggghhhh, they are all chasing me, has a nosebleed caused by stress.
Intersky Emerald, interviewed at end said 'well someone has to come last'
Daruma, I did run my fastest but the others are lots bigger than me cos I have only got 14.2 legs!

''A. Crook, the trainer of KOODOO, reported that the gelding reared just before the stalls opened and missed the break.''

Oh dear! No wonder we used to have problems loading him on to a trailer:)

'Running free to post' means that he carted his jockey to the start, implying that he had already run his race before the stalls opened.
Those are all the official reports made to the clerk of the scales (or in some cases the trainer rings up the HRA to declare something in the days that follow).
They are generally an insurance policy. If something goes wrong that time, then the horse improves immensely on his next run, the stewards look into it. If there is a report on what happened then usually no action is taken. If not then they have the trainer and jockey in, to ask what the hell has gone on.
It is strict protocol, but is not always closly adhered to. A lot of trainers arent keen to let the jockeys go in and tell them that the horse is a bleeder and cant breathe - especially if they are off to the sales. Likewise if the horse is no good (hence never likely to win a race), no one usually bothers - not much likelihood of getting into trouble!
These things are in the news at the moment as there is a call for wind ops to be declared (which I agree with - any op should go on the passport, racehorse or otherwise). If a horse has 'reported to have made a noise' back in the form and no one knows it has had a wind op then it can start a big price and be a big gamble for those in the know. Another sad example of gamblers running racing, but a worthy point if you look at it from the other side.

Thank you for all that info Vicijp- very interesting. Was amazed to find that site TBH as a lot of the comments seem to be 'horse was lame' or 'horse had a breathing problem' !! Wouldve thought that wouldve made life difficult if they were ever trying to sell the horse!

well mine Keyalzao had a breathing problem - I.e. She probably stop to takle a breather!

and her boyf kaliyoun bled from the nose!

both of these are from andy crooks yard like Koodoo - kaliyoun (or Ivan) is even related same great great sire!)
