Deary me...
Well, a year ago today the most stubborn, willful, cheeky, gorgeous, annoying, big-hearted boy came into my life.
I'd gotten a Facebook message from a girl who I've known all my life who now handles GSDs professionally, saying that a mutual friend and breeder had a male and female still looking for friends, and were we interested?
Mum went to have a look, and being a sable fan, said she really liked the male.
A week later and he came home, unintentionally, on my birthday.
I'm not going to lie - it has been tough! This is my first male, we have always kept bitches (and now I know why...) it has been a steep learning curve.
He does try and defend me against all other dogs (but after a lot of work, he is getting SO much better) and he does seem to want to make himself bald (again, this is a work in progress) and I do wish he was tiny again
but really? I wouldn't change him for the world!
The day he arrived, 6mo.
A week later on the beach, I had gone to put poo in the bin and when I came back, my Mum was screaming her head off. The dog was halfway to Scotland, in the sea, and when I called him, he delivered a still-alive seagull!!!
He is a nosy bugger
The last few are from a few days over summer. For the first time, we went out and spent whole days exploring. It was during these days that we learned a lot about each other - he looked to me for confidence and guidance, he began to trust me and I began to see how willing he was to please.
That's the boy in a nutshell - I truly believe he would do anything I asked him to.
It is when I ask him NOT to do something that is the problem
And as some of you may know, in a few months' time, he was joined by a familiar face....will post accordingly!
