Hello,

Are there any horticulturalists around who are able to advise whether Oxtail plant is poisonous to horses?

I have been advised it is Oxtail - the flowers look a bit like dandelions but it grows on longer stalks and the leaves are prickly/hairy. Does this sound about right?

Thanks.

Not poisonous as far as I know. We have a fair bit of this in our Winter grazing. It was there last year too and the horses suffered no ill effects eating it!

Ok thanks. My horse never snatches at grass or anything as I bring him in but this has just sprung up and he actively looks for it to eat. Wondered if it meant a deficiency in something and whether it was ok for him to eat.
