Think its a bit of horses for courses!
I tried Nupafeed and it had no effect at all whereas the Oxyshot was fab on my boy - he was so much more relaxed.

Could be best to try both and see which one your mare responds better to.

I know a lot of people think oxyshot is rubbish but i have tried about every calmer out there and it's the only thing that worked on my mare. Nupafeed made no difference at all.

PLus Nupafeed is really expensive and you have to give it everyday and build it up. If you think oxyshot worked for you i'd stick with it.

My mare is just the same. I don't know why it works, but it has made a big difference to her. Even my OH who is non horsey has commented on how much better she is.

I will be sticking with it for as long as it carries on working.

I agree with this. We tried everything on one of ours and have yet to find anything that works, other than patient schooling. I would say that Nupafeed was a very expensive waste of time, but then others have found it helpful. I think it's just down to individual horses and you should stick to what you know works! It can't be dearer than Nupafeed!

I haven't tried Oxyshot but can offer personal experience of Nupafeed. It took weeks to build up and have a noticeable effect, so giving it for a week beforehand might not give it a fair chance. The results were fairly subtle for me at first, but were definitely there. If you find it works, you do have to keep at it because of the build up factor. I would probably say jump in and get the 3L bottle as you'll use most of the 1st litre just loading the stuff. This is the only thing that makes it more expensive, as you don't need to feed much after the initial blasting.

I should add that I fed it for separation anxiety, rather than show excitement, so maybe not comparable, but these days, mine's like a different horse.

Well i'm a big Nupafeed Fan!!!! It has made a huge difference to quite a few of mine over the years, got two on it at the moment, one for every day and one because he is on box rest and without it he just spend all day box walking (well trotting actually!!) which kind of denies the point of being on box rest!!!

I havnt actually heard anything good about oxyshot first hand, apparently it smells like bettery acid!!!!! I just worry about how it works, i doesnt seem natural??! And i'm confused because they also market it for energy?! I'm wary of anything that is as rediculously over marketed as that. And i think it depends what you want it for, the Nupafeed is to help the stressfullness at its cause not to try and mask things, which is surely better for them?

I'd be interested to hear your thoughts?!

I Looked into it but it contains L-tryptophan which is a sedative which I believe is completely ilegal in most countries and only legal within narrow contstraints here?! And what i like about the upafeed is that it is actually good for them, i dont like the idea of effectively sedating them because it compromises performance and doesnt really solve the problem. Mine also look really well on it becasue they arent been stressfull day to day so they dont need as much food to keep topped up- so i save pennies in the end
