Ok so weather pants,so i not suprised the HT was cancelled last second this morn,BUT to just refund the £3 1st aid and £2 bib dep is naff, the entry was £25,.is this allowed?.they are doing classes in the school instead BUT im not going an hrs drive to SJ when i can do this at home. Rant over!!!! I hope others demand more refund!!!most places keep an admin fee,not the whole sodding lot!!!!

i've sent them a very stroppy e-mail. it's 30miles from me. i'm hardly gonna drive there just to collect a fiver! would cost me more in diesel and already did cost me that yesterday to go there and walk the course. my horse wont do poles, that's why i entered a sodding XC! v v unhappy and have let them know that.

Yes I had this argument with them this morning-so angry as I wanted a full refund, but as I'm only 10 minutes down the road I went to the Eventers Challenge, so I didn't lose out completely, but I think they're taking the p***. Then I had to hang around for a couple of hours to jump as there were so many horses there. A very cold and miserable day.

I would say that is completely out of order, maybe write to H+H and mention it to them, bad publicity and all. Keeping a 10-15% admin fee is the norm but not refunding at all is v. bad

Well after phoning the secretary yesterday lunchtime to ask whether it was worth my while walking the course as the forecast was so bad, I was told inno uncertain terms that it would def be on as the ground conditions were still good. I then walked the course at 3pm & nearly fell over 3 times it as so slippery! I too saw the note on the news page this morning about refunding just the first aid & bib money on the condition that we collected it ourselves! There was no way I was going to drive 30 mins to pick up a fiver!! My friend still decided to go so she retrieved my money for me, but I'm very disappointed to say the least. Isn't there a note somewhere on the site about cancellations??? I agree that deducting an admin fee is acceptable but to keep 75% is appalling!!!

yeah, their terms and conditions say that if they cancel you can send a SAE in within a month of the competition and they will refund minus a small admin fee.

if they dont reply to my e-mail i shall print out this thread and post them it with a stroppy letter and a copy of my letter to H&H about it - it's completey unacceptable. i wasted 60miles of diesel (£15!!!) yesterday driving there to walk a course that was ridiculously wet and still being told they would run and then they want to keep my entire entry fee. i'm fuming.

i'm meant to be going there next sunday for dressage and i dont want to now - dont want to ever enter anything there ever again getting treated like this. but i've paid for next week so i will go and i will have more words about giving money back while i'm there.

This is awful!! I've never known a place keep all the entry fee!! I accept that they should keep a small admin fee from each member, after all they had still done planning etc, but keeping the whole fee and then not running the event is unacceptable.

This isn't local to me, but if it was it would certainly stop me going to this place again. If nothing else, the bad publicity will lose them all the monies they have kept from this event. A very foolish decision on their behlaf!!

* Makes mental note not to enter any HTs at Pachesham *

(Which is a shame, because I used to enjoy jumping there in my youth

That is outrageous. I was gutted I couldn't manage to swap shifts so I could enter, now I'm mighty glad I didn't!!! Have also made mental note not to enter anything there in the future. Cancellations can't be helped and whilst keeping a small cancellation fee is acceptable, what they are doing is plain greedy and very poor customer service. Whats the betting they also carry insurance against cancelled events, so will be claiming compensation in addition to keeping all your entry fees???

because they changed it to a eventer's trial they reckon they haven't cancelled it. but SJing in an outdoor arena is nothing like a HT and my pony wont even go over a pole so not much point me going. i dont think you can change from XC to SJ and then not give refunds. It's like changing from dressage show to a SJing one! Mine cant be the only horse out there who only jumps natural fences!

I agree its bollox and have certainly be put off entering anything there in the future. Fair enough to give you the option to swap your entry to that, but to make it compulsory is bang out of order.

That is very naughty. I am really interested in viewing the yard for livery as well so sad to hear that.

Star - not the only one my horse will jump xc/hunt all day long at any height he is put at and can on a good day get around half a course of show jumps at about 2'6 then says NO, NO MORE I AM DONE!!
