My doggie possibly has this and been advised by the vet to go on a low fat diet. anyone any experience of this ?
Would you go for one of the special dry food diets that cost an arm and a leg or try and do your own?

I don't have any direct experience but I did a lot of research when my younger GSD turned out to be gluten intolerant. I initially thought it might be pancreatitis, and I put him on Nutrix, which is a good food for pancreatitis. A reasonably big bag cost about £40.

As it was, it was just gluten for my boy, so I've put him on Skinners hypoallergenic, which isn't much cheaper but you don't have to organise delivery!

My 10 year old boxer came down with this suddenly last year. We put him on the Royal Canin tinned food from our vets as that is what they put him on whilst he was in with them for 3 days he had been on Arden Grange. We now rotate him between Royal Canin and Chappie mixed with boiled chicken, he was also on brown pasta but now flatly refuses that. Roasted pigs ears and roasted dry bones are given to chew, it's not how I keep my other dogs but he is fit, well and still able to be a pain in the bum.

Low fats diets can be just that without the need for prescription or expensive diets. Chappie although not the best nutritious source of food is fabulous for conditions like pancreatitis. Although never used personally feeding pigs pancreas is also meant to be a fantastic aid for this condition.
