Well I have just come back from turning my boy out in what I can only describe as a paddling pool...he won't need any water from his bucket today as I left him eating grass through a layer of water!!!!

My word we had some bad rain and wind last night...and apparently it is set to be worse across the Midlands today!

I can cope with flooded fields as mine is not muddy, the road ditch has flooded so the lane is completely a wash with water the whole length and all my field ditches have flooded over...I just hope and pray my mobile field stable does not flood or get attacked by the winds...(fingers crossed)

How are you guys faring?

The weather here is foul....it's incredibly windy, and the rain is showing no sign of letting up.The fields are holding up OK atm,we're lucky in as much as we're half way down a hill,so any excess water drains off pretty quickly, although the ground underfoot is pretty squelchy.

Our stable block is pretty old though,so I'm just hoping that the roof stays on OK

Take care today everyone

Our little mare in internal stabling was clamouring to go out - until she go to the door and saw the weather and then nearly flattened my husband as she shot back in to her warm dry comfy bed of shavings!

The Welshy who has an outside stable has no intention of going anywhere thank you very much.

And as for the two still out, the Welshy is hiding behind the windbreak and the AA is stood out in the middle of the field - no weather seems to bother her.

The field itself isn't too bad, alhtough we are now the proud possessors of a couple of lakes and some other water features! including a rather interesting double log jump in the middle of one of the "lakes". I haven't got the nerve to try jumping it though.

The track up to the field is fairly dreadfu, the gates are yucky and my turnout area is knee deep in mud - I MUST get that sorted!.

I am right on the south coast and the winds are very high.

I am concerned that everything will blow away!

Managed to ride yesterday, but definately no riding for me today!

we've had no electricity all night, it came on about half hour ago but keeps flickering.

my fields are awful, have rapidly decreased in the last two days, but the stable (that leaks anyway) seems to be fairing ok.

i can only leave my house if i drive out across the fields as the lane at the bottom of my drive is completely blocked by a huge tree, thank god i drive a land rover.

have just heard the news say that this could be the worst storm we've had in 16 years - ouch!
and also that a man in a land rover was killed in shropshire as his car was hit by a falling tree.

be careful, take care. x x

Paddling pool is good description for this part of Warwickshire! Wind battering windows here. Horses put out in dark, as ususal this morning and could not wait to get out to see what on earth was going on. Pondered on putting neck cover on cob but a) too warm and b) possibility it may have inflated like a wind sock and carried him away on the wind

- it's that strong! Water was rushing down the hill and then lying in all the churned up field att eh bottom. Just hope all buildings, rooves and fences stay up and no one is hurt. Menage was consistency of chocolate pudding - hoping for dramatic improvement in weather this afternoon

Mine are now not wanting to go out - so much for my tough gypsy cob.

The corner by the gate has hard core base and the mud on top is now slurry. We have taped it off and are using the other field gate.

Going to put them out Weds, Fri and Sunday for the next couple of weeks - give the field a chance to dry out and they may want to go out a bit more rather than having to be pushed into the field.

I am lucky in that they both like their stables and can go into the school several times a day for a run round.
