Paddock hoovers...

I have oak and sycamore in my small paddocks.
Thinking of investing in a garden vacuum to pick up leaves, seeds, acorns etc.
Haven't got the funds for an industrial sized one and only have one and a half acres.
Has anyone used the type they sell in garden centres and how have you got on?
Any suggestions appreciated - dreading autumn with the thought of millions of leaves to clear!

If you have a mower that picks up I would just use that. We have a garden vacuum and it is not that effective and can only do a small area at a time. Never use mine now, just mow over everything (the lower the setting the better it picks up, and it is also better if it is dry).

This. Ride on mower with collector, it is a sweeper one not a hoover one and it picks up most bits.

I have used a garden hoover/blower for oak leaves & acorns mine is mains electric so would recommend a battery one. I'm moving to my own yard in a few weeks no acorns or sycamore leaves and seeds the first time in years but I have a new war to battle ragwort knee pads at the ready !

dont bother with the leaves but a livery has brought down her vacuum which we will use this year as doing with a rake last year took ages.

I was really not looking forward to having to rake it all up. Think the mower sounds like the best plan so far

I've just bought this. http://www.coopersofstortford.co.uk/src/gbase/coopers-of-stortford-lawn-sweeper-prodst08286i/. Used it last night, it's okay, it does pick up the leaves well along with some seeds but it leaves a lot of wet seeds stuck to the mud. I'll keep using it and try to pick the ones that are left up by hand. I'm wondering about a petrol leaf vacuum, they seem more powerful than the battery ones.
