He's 16 weeks old and only had his first vaccine. His 2nd one is due on the 5th January.
Would you carry him around outside so he can start to socialise? Dad said its not a good idea before his 2nd injection, but I'm sure we always used to carry them around?

Personally I take the risk with mine (and I let them run about) but I stay away from doggie areas. I think the benefits of socialisation outweigh the risks of picking something up, but it is a risk and things can go wrong!

only a bit to go! mine ran around in my fields and garden and only mixed with my own dogs! fine. i would avoid doggy areas and popular walks til then.

Not other dogs you want to worry about according to our vet.
Its foxes. The majority of dog owners innoculate their dogs at some point, but foxes never are, so therefore the risk of a fox having something mangy like distemper is far far higher.
Anywhere a fox is likely to have visited should be avoided like the plague.
Could you not invite some poochies round for a bit of a pow wow?
Mine stay under lock and key (house and back garden only) until 2nd vaccine is done.

Joeanne, Paddy is number 11 in my house, so I don't need to invite any dogs round

But he does need socialising with the 'big bad world'

I didn't realise that foxes carried anything dogs could get, thanks
