This maybe a very silly question so forgive me i am blonde!! On page 83 there is an advert for the Point Two Air Jackets and a Hunt Master is wearing the jacket under his coat.

What i cant work out is if he was to fall off how would the jacket work surly it would be restricted by his jacket?? I have only seen these on the tv and they look like they are quite big when they are inflated!!! It's prob something very easy to explain but it has really been bugging me since i saw it last week..........

I saw the same add and did wonder about it. According to my knowledgeable other half, to wear it under your jacket is actually dangerous, as if it goes off you can wind up cracking your ribs when it inflates as it is restricted from inflating outwards. Would be interested to know everyone elses thoughts on it.

They should be worn OVER a BP.
I think this advert from Point 2 is awful, if people copied what they saw in the advert, without thinking, they could really do themselves some damage.
FWIW I believe if wearing it under a jacket you are supposed to do buttons up with elastic to allow the expansion required for the jacket inflation.

That's what i thought they should be worn with a BP as i wouldn't trust one on it's own (although i'm sure they are great) i'm glad it's not just me who thinks this is odd!!!

Assuming he doesn't hurt himself as previous post. He probably will explode his jacket!!

Not a cheap day out if he forgets and jumps off without unclipping the lanyard

Pretty poor advertising if you ask me.

Haven't seen the ad but seeing as hunt people rarely wear hats with chinstraps and are reluctant to wear any hi vis when hacking home in the dark, I doubt any will start wearing a point two anytime soon.......

I thought that as well but by then I had pressed go.. I did also think that Point 2 seem to be clutching at straws targetting the hunt community.

Had a funny vision of it going off and his buttons flying off!
But on a serious note this does sound daft - if not dangerous. It will either damage his coat or damage him!

it was for a discussion like this that got other forum members banned and exactly why you should be able to have them, clearly there is alot of misinformation out there

Agree with other posts as far as I can tell should be worn over BP and over not under a jacket!! Although I imagine all my horsey clothes to be under this amount of strain post x-mas!!!

I *think* that a while ago WFP said he was wearing one under his XC shirt (perhaps a bit stretchier/larger than a hunt coat though)

presumbaly he as elastic doing his buttons up then

I am sure the jackets are great i just thought you wear them with a BP and couldn't understand how they would work under a jacket i think that advert is not the greatest and very misleading!

Thats what I was trying to hint at.

Pointless everyone saying 'ooh look, your back's not broken' when you have a massive hole in your head after your hat flew off
