Some of you may know that Friend and I were in a car crash a couple of weeks ago. An idiot driver came round the bend on my side of the road, swerved, hit the back of the trailer I was towing (no horses in thankfully!), hit the back of Friend's car (good job trailer was there or he'd have gone into Friend's car), then went into a tree.

Got the insurance details from the Police. Rang the idiot driver's car insurance company - the idiot driver didn't mention the trailer or the car! Just said he lost control and hit a tree!!! The CPS is considering driving without due care (or some such thing), so I think the insurance company is going to be reconsidering his claim for his car (definate write-off!).

And he thinks he can get away with that? More than an idiot

Stupid, and to be honest makes no difference to him - if he's claiming for his written off car then he's going to lose his no claims (or a'life' if it's protected) so why hide the fact there were third parties involved? It's still only one claim whether it costs his insurance company £1k or £10k.

Hope you get it all sorted.

My condolences Mrs M. Couple of years ago I was minding my own business driving along the M4 for a late start at work. Some prune was hogging the outside lane and I just quietly sat behind him, hoping he'd eventually move over. He was driving an old saloon with a humungus old wardrobe tied to the roof! All of a suden the wind caught the wardrobe and lifted it right off the car and it floated through the air towards me. Thought I was gonna be killed. Thank god I was able to brake hard and the bl**dy thing crashed onto the road in front of me, and I drove straight over the wreckage. Pulled over to hard shoulder, shaking like a leaf. Man (2 relatives in car as well) gave me his phone number and said it wasn't a wardrobe, it was an antique Victorian fireplace! I reported it to the police because there was debris all over the road but they didn't want to know. Doesn't that just give you a warm fuzzy feeling? Anyway, when the insurance companies started talking the fekking liar denied all knowledge of the incident! I hope he reads this. My only consolation was that his poxy Victorian fireplace was matchwood. At work, they all wet themselves laughing! They said only Barb could be driving along the M4 and be hit by a flying fireplace.

Driving in the outside lane of a motorway with something tied to the roof say it all really.

OH has a little bump recently, when a line of commuter traffic she was in suddenly stopped when a car shot out of a side turning. Several cars gave each other a little bump which unfortunately included my OH bumping a 4 x 4 with her Pajero. The car she bumped suffered a cracked number plate....that's it. The first thing the driver of the other car did was put a firm of compensation solicitors onto my OH, claiming whiplash and headaches, next we heard from her insurance company that she was claiming a repair bill of just under £1000.

There are some nice people out there.........I hope!

Um, having got whiplash from what seemed to be a minor incident, I'd just say that you can't assume the lady wasn't injured. I had no idea there was a problem until my neck started to sieze and I could hardly get out of bed the next day.

I slid into the back of another car in the snow a couple of days ago when my care wasn't even in gear. We both got out and decided there was no damage, apart from my indicator being knocked out, so parted on good terms. At home I realised that my indicator has come out because the front of my car has been slightly pushed in and the bonnet is popped. OH is a mechanic and says that there is probably some damage on the other car that wasn't immediately obvious.

I'm sorry to hear about your bump, but I'm afraid it was pretty obvious from the outset that this woman was up to no good. My OH was doing about 5 MPH when she bumped. The car she hit was fitted with headrests, so no way was the drivers head thrown back and £1000 to replace a rear number plate?. Amazingly, her claim was just slightly bigger than her insurance excess!

We left to to my OH's insurers to sort out.

Hope you feel better soon.

Thank you for all your warm and kind thoughts

I haven't heard back from the idiot's insurance company, so that'll be fun next week
