Re my post below in the eventuality Inky has to have painkillers i need some facts first!!!

Minis are NEVER supposed to have bute as the risk of getting the dose wrong could kill them and even on the right dose it has been known to kill minis. The vet has suggested Danalon is this the same as bute? ( i forgot to ask

I have heard Banamine is good for minis but ive never heard of it being available in England ( more America ) but is there another name it is known by??

Please help if you can, i cant seem to find much info on it and i dont want to give Inky something bad

Danilon and equipalazone are both bute (phenylbutazone). The only difference I know of between them is danilon is apparently more palatable and more expensive???

FYI found that Danilon = ingredient is Suxibuzone, which is very rapidly transformed into its main active metabolites, phenylbutazone (PBZ) and oxyphenbutazone (OPBZ)

Banamine is a trade name for the generic flunixin meglumine. It's major use in N. America is for acute conditions, especially colic, and the major danger is it works so well symptoms can be masked.

No idea if it's available here but it's so popular I'd be surprised if it was and people weren't using it.

Flunixin meglumine is a commonly used analgesic in the UK, it's just more commonly known as Finadyne or Meflosyl. I just looked up Banamine and it would appear to be an American name for flunixin.

finadyne is a very strong pain liller danilion is the same as bute but it is metabolised differfectly in the uses gut and is less harmful to the liver!
