Paint on horses.. What do you think?

I was recently at a show and saw a lady spraying her greys legs. They suddenly went from a yellowy colour to spotless white. When i looked at what she was using it was stock spray (for marking sheep!)

Has anyone else ever seen/done/heard of this before? This was a new one for me. Surely this isn't a good idea?

Presumably if it is OK to use on sheep then it won't harm a horse, it will probably be washed off afterwards.

I have seen a lot stranger things put on horses for shows I worked on one show yard where we used to dye the horses. Not just tint, dye their manes either darker or lighter.

About 25 yrs ago two men who were hairdressers shared a palomino horse, and they used to bleach his mane and tail!

I've used coloured hairspray before to get socks white pony didn't seem to mind x

I actually considered this last week to cover up the green sheep foot spray on her legs but I couldn't find any white in the landy in time. It won't do any harm tho, its fully scourable

I will try it and report back.

You can get horse makeup in stick, cream and spray form. Guess the marker spray is similar but cheaper!

Not sure where the ok/cheating line is though

I do wonder why farmers would be using white stock marker on sheep - I have never come across white stock marker before!!

I use spray on chalk spray for ours and it works really well.

Baa baa Black sheep, no other colour shows. But frankly white isn't much cop either.

I make my scan man use white on black sheep and black on white sheep to mean the same thing, it confuses him for a while every year

I don't have a problem with it so long as it's not overdone. Some horses have so much make up now they don't look like horses.
