Hi everyone, I wonder if anyone can tell me please if equest is as effective as the 5 day course of panacur equine guard for treating encysted inhibited and encysted mucosal small redworm? I'm unsure if it treats all the same stages etc. Thanks very much. Lucy x

No it isnt. Equest is not proven to kill 100% encysted redworm. Id worm for Tape using Equitape or similar, then use 5 day for encysted

But if your horse has resistant worms, very common for fenbendazole, it will work only partially or not at all.
No wormer will kill 100% of worms I'm afraid but if you are going to use Panacur you need to establish that it will work on the worms you are treating, if in fact your horse has worms. If the worms are susceptible then it's a good choice for encysted redworm. If not then it will be a waste of money to use it.

This ^^^^. Vets often seem to be a bit clueless about worming - they're not gods.
