Does anyone have any experience of pannus in dogs? I’m worried my GSD bitch may have the condition (after Googling and speaking to a couple of other owners of dogs with it) and I will be calling the vet tomorrow for an appointment. The good news is it would appear to be treatable (but there’s no cure as such).

I'm sorry to hear this. I have had something similar with one of my horses and was interested in the Rex Specs as I trialled the identical horse version.

For horse problems we have a specific FB group so I searched FB. I didn't find anything for dogs but it you search FB under "pannus" there are about 3 posts in the group German shepherd UK chat. Some of the dogs have the masks so there may be some useful info from owners who have been in this position.

Thanks. I’ll have a read.

Sadly it is pannus. She has been prescribed steroid eye drops and will get another type once the inflammation has reduced (if I understood correctly). She will be on eye drops for life but they should halt the progression and she should be able to lead a normal life. Thank goodness for insurance!
I’ve sent her pedigree to the breed health coordinator for information.

Fingers crossed she tolerates treatments and prevention well, I am sure you will get here there with those.
At least you went twitter your gut and got her spayed and no puppies.
And well spotted.

Thank goodness for insurance. These are the eye drops needed for Tay’s condition (now on them for life)
and it’s £82 for a 2mg tube ?
