Paper Bedding

I'm after being offered a load of paper bedding from a friend of mine for practically free!

I normally use shavings for my girls bed (along with rubber matting). Can anyone tell me how paper would compare with this?

What are the advantages / disadvan ges of using paper bedding?

I used to always use paper as you get more in a bale and its cheaper than shavings. tbh its not much different to shavings but it can blow all over the place in the wind!

It rots quicker but I find it gets everywhere and gets a bit mushy when wet. I mix it with shavings 50/50

Depends how it's shredded. Small strands or squares is fine but anything longer is pointless and more hassle than its worth! Also it soaks wet up less and is quite heavy to move round when taking out.

I mix with shavings too, I get it from work. Short chop shredded, the long stuff is useless.
