I know the lady that owns him posts on here so thought id ask what happened at Witton with the SJing?

Had a super dressage the 16 pens SJing and clear XC with around 50 time pens - obviously decided to take him slow as she probably wasnt going to get placed, just seemed strange his SJing has been great in the other events

Just had another look and he has had an the odd 8 faults.

Hope she continues to event him seems a lovely horse

The ground is always bad for the SJ at the first Witton but I noticed they had it in a different place this year - near where the start of the XC used to be so maybe they thought the ground was better here - have seen it a lot worse.
They had made a lot of changes to the XC this year too and a lot of new fences put in. Horrible jump down the bank to a one stride double across the old bridleway with a big drop behind.

thanks for asking - Sim was actually quite exciting (his first event of the year). He did a reasonable dressage test, but was not concentrating as well as usual - but still led after that even with some mistakes. Warmed up well for the SJ - although not too happy with the very sticky ground - and in the arena he got a bit worried in the combinations in the mud, which is where he had the poles down. His SJ is by far his greenest phase - and he didnt get out as much as Ruth was hoping in the winter as she hurt her knee - so still quite babyish in the arena. Still, he then did a lovely clear XC for his first novice - if anything jumping quite big XC. The plan was to take him very slow - hence the time penalties - but he had a lovely time and was very confident at that, so we were pleased. The ground XC was actually a lot better than for SJ. His next event is Belton - although it is very close to the winter dressage champs, so not quite decided yet if he will run.
