Paraffin in fly sprays

Have heard many people use paraffin in homemade fly sprays, is it safe? Thanks

Not paraffin, but I used to put a dash of meths in my homemade.

That was an old fashioned remedy. It's paraffin like vasaline, not sure if that's different to the flammable stuff but I assume so!
