Parcel services for posting heavy turnout rug?

I'm about to list my 6'3" Fal Goliath on eBay. It is heavy weight and has the neck cover so is quite a bulky and heavy rug. Can anyone recommend the cheapest courier who'll take it?

Looking online at the parcel dimensions accepteed by the couriers, and I'm also worried it'll be too big even rolled up and squashed into the smallest shape possible.

I use Royal Mail standard parcel - costs about a tenner. (Not parcelforce) I found that couriers charge through the nose if you don't have an account with them.....

Another vote for Royal Mail parcels. You should be able to post for a tenner and you get some insurance included, you can increase to £100 insurance for just £1. I find this site really useful, you just type in the weight & you get all the options with cost. I tend to also offer a quicker delivery option at a higher cost, then the bidder has the choice.

I remeber posting some saddles out in mahoosive boxes and the couriers came and picked them up from me i didnt have to take them anywhere, just did it all online....must have been parcel force or royal mail....

Royal Mail Standard Parcels will accept anything upto 1.5m long and 20kg. It's 3-5 days delivery and you can pay extra for insurance.

You have to take that down the the Post Office to post, make sure you ask for proof of posting as that's what you use if you have to claim.

I use this for sending big stuff sold on eBay!

Or have used Parcelforce for overweight/size or difficult to transport to Post Office, as they'll collect.

I recently sold my 6ft Bucas Power Heavyweight full neck on ebay. It weighed 4kg. I posted to Northern Ireland from Kent, and it was £12.50 - 2 working days delivery via parcelforce. I have to say it was dead easy. Booked it all online on Wednesday evening & they collected it from me at work on Thursday afternoon. It was delivered to N.I on the Monday and had £50 insurance included. Would have cost the same anywhere in the UK to anywhere in the UK. Hope this helps.

Oh bummer if only it was 3" bigger. But anyway Royal Mail/parcelforce would be your best bet, if you use a courier then they will probably charge a fortune.

We use these for stuff like rugs or ebay stuff and have sent some really wierd stuff from house clearance with them and always been fab.

Many thanks for the replies. Was just concerned about the size of the packaged rug. All the websites seem to say they don't take packages that size. That said... all my new rugs come via RM and couriers????!!

I'd be surprised if interparcel wouldnt take it i have posted 3 6ft rugs with necks and a 7ft rambo without any botherin the last couple of weeks,
Best thing to do is get a box and squash it in.
Hell they even picked up a vintage dressmakers mannequin which i sold for my mum on ebay
