I decided to see if my horses wanted to play ball with me. My sister gave me a couple of gym balls so I took them to the yard (if anyone wants to try this I would advise inflating them at the yard, having them bouncing round the car made the trip interesting

)

Ponio took one look at it and pi**ed off to the corner where she proceeded to glare at it menacingly before ignoring it completely and returned to her favourite pastime of chasing partridges out of her field.

Horse took one look at it, snorted at it before deciding it was far too close to her hay pile and bit it. Que ball flying in one direction and horse flying in the other

Ball then rolled down the slope into her hay. Ball was then killed

My research concluded that my horses don't like playing ball

Just to add no horses were harmed while conducting this experiment

this may not have been a true test, you do not mention if you were brandishing a carrotstick at the same time.did you invade the balls space before it rolled down the hill.

This problem is that you were using just any old gym ball, rather than a Parelli approved one, which would come with an explanatory DVD at some considerable cost. You can't go around just lobbing random balls at horses, they must be the specialised ones.

Excellent research into Parelli and balls

. I think they're looking for volunteers in a later post to try out the more natural practice of riding under horses' bellies instead of on their backs. Maybe you could get started on that as your experiment has been such a resounding success.

Hmm true - they were the same size tho....

I neglected the carrot stick coz if I presented a stick made of carrots to my horses I wouldn't escape with my arms intact

Hmm possibly on the horse... the pony is only 11.2 so a bit small for that

I tried with mine once. Seamus picked it up, ran off with it and hit the others with it

It was one of those play ball things. The others were not amused at all
frown.gif
It was funny to watch though

I also got one of those balls you put nuts in. One rolled it whilst the other ate all the nuts

PMSL, LMAO. My OH is looking at me like I'm martian I'm laughing that hard

And remember :the rope halter will only work if it is blessed by Pat and the carrot stick is NOT a whip [we just use to beat the dickens out of horsie when we are off camera] I've met Mr. Parelli and discussed some of his theories ,trust me children ,he has No Balls that he uses . Send a hundred pounds AND I'LL SEND OUT MY NEW VIDEO : MY HORSIE IS JUST A BIG PUPPY DOG AND SHOULD NEVER BE RIDDEN. and we'll include free [for 25 pounds] a Magic Clothesline Rope halter warrentied to subdue the most savage bronco ! For an extra 30 bob Linda Parelli will include a lap dance

I wanted to do this. Not because of Pirelli but because I saw the police horses do it in a training demo.

so that's where parelli got the idea, add another £30 0n top of a £10 gym ball and voila!! another way to make loads of money!!!!

I wish I had a pic of this but my old Section A used to pick up a schooling whip and wave it at people, maybe the Parellis nicked the idea from him!

Incidentally, I gave my young horse a football and a horseball and she just looked disapprovingly at them!

I gave up with gym balls, footballs and balloons after our lot just stood and grazed whilst watching me wave/jump around/ kick etc with a bemused but not in the slightest way fazed look. I took their point.

This forum is guaranteed to lighten my day, you guys are just so funny, I haven't laughed so much in ages. Thank you!
