What do you think of Parelli

I have spent the last couple of years watching my daughters do Bath Riding clubs lessons, there is a husband and wife there in the group who bought a gorgeous young cob. He appears to try really hard to please with not a bad bone in his body........ I can only say that what I witness regulally with these people is total cruelty. I dont think they know what they are doing but as far as they are concerned they are parelli experts! This poor young horse is working nicely when it suddenly gets yanked to a halt for no reason and his head turned right round to touch the riders toe, what the hell is that all about? This can happen ever 6-7 strides! They get in the way of everybody and even the instructors think they are b***** mad! When I asked what they were doing I was told it was all about getting the horse to submit. He isnt allowed any sort of mind of his own. This poor little horse now appears confused and depressed........ tbh if he decided he had had enough and threw the idiots off (one rides one week the other the following week) he would get a round of applause!

The man's moustache annoys me, and the woman's hair flopping over her hat annoys me. But I think the methods are pretty valid, though I don't agree with using the clip under the horse's chin! But certainly teaching respect of space is pretty good.

Are you sure they are doing Parelli not one of the many copies? It soesn't sound like any Parelli lessonI've had especially the"was all about getting the horse to submit"bit!Parelli isn't about getting the horse to submit its about Parttnership.

I don't think that the poll questions were entirely fair. I was inclined to go with the first option as I am a Parelli student (I am responsible for how I apply the methods with my own horse and not how anyone else does it, before I get jumped on here). However, Pat Parelli is certainly NOT A GOD. He is a human being ffs!!! To say he is a god just seems a bit silly to me, and suggests bias in the questions (although I wouldn't like to say whether this was intentional or accidental, it will affect your results).
I couldn't really pick the second option as actually, I don't have a problem with their marketing - they are great at marketing, Linda Parelli is a marketing genius. I think their prices are fair - they have come down recently and it is often cheaper to buy the genuine Parelli brand kit than the imitation stuff on eBay. Other trainers such as Carl Hester who sell relatively expensive training kit (which is no doubt good quality) aren't criticised for it to nearly the same extent.
Sorry OP, I don't really feel you have put an option for many Parelli students to pick.

Haha they might not like your hair either! But live and let live eh :D

A friends 12 year old mare has recently gone out on loan to a parelli instructor. The horse is a good little workman like animal, knows the job and is very well mannered. Until now. The mare lunched herself at the loaner and bit her during a training session, has also threatened to kick her. Of course, this is because the horse has 'issues' and needs more parelli training.
The lady's other horse is a 10 yr old TB, previously in full ridden work, since owning it, she has been 'training' for 3 years and has only just started to ride it.
If only this was an isolated instance, but I have yet to meet a parelli devotee or see a parelli demo that didn't leave me feeling disturbed.

Peeps, I meant for the options to be humourous not serious. And yes I agree there's a lack of an "I think Parelli is ok" option which I realised shortly after pressing submit, but it won't let me edit and add it in now.

I'm currently doing the online levels but I cherry pick the bits I do with my horses.
