A good friend of mine suggested that a 16 yo Parelli trained rider might be interested in jumping Fly. Now I don't just let "anyone" on my horse but she was recommended and I thought "why not". Took him to hers today and she warmed him up with tight circles at trot and canter and my was he lazy. To cut a long story short, have never seen this style of riding before, but she did get results. The reins were long, she jumped one handed with whip and hand behind her but bloody hell he DID jump! She jumped him 4ft 2" and he seemed to be on the bit with loops in the reins? Wish I knew how to put video on to show you all. Quite amazed and humbled actually. xx

I hope your horse has some recent jumping experience, cause otherwise 4'2 is far too high!

Oh how funny! Actually he jumps every week, alebeit 3t9" tops coz Ican't jump any higher! He made it look easy but I still think he made a "better shape" and was more comfortable with me. It's just he got a bit "long" with her, all though she was very brave and to be honest she jumped him higher than I ever have although Fly thought it was "easy"! I told her I grabbed his mane sometimes and she said "he can feel it", ummmmmmmmmm perhaps. xx p.s whats the "carrot stick" thing all about????/

OK, we need video evidence! How on earth do I do it?? xx

Do you have photobucket? You can upload it into that or onto youtube...is the video downloaded onto the computer?

Don't worry about the comments above, parts of parelli are certainly very useful for handling youngsters/naughty horses!

Why does a parelli rider need a stick?

Something to fidget with when they sit around and chat - they do that 90% of the time.
