Hi
Just thought I drop a quick line to say thank you for your advice after watching the video of Bailey 'in action'! Twice this week I have ridden him on a longer rein and kept my hands very still at his withers and relaxed my upper body - the difference is amazing! I haven't managed to get him a lozenge bit yet but even in the rubber pelham he seems happier so thank you so much guys!!!!

Thanks to everyone else who offered advice too!!!!

He was like a different horse!

He was actually working long and low, I couldn't believe it!!!!!! He seemed much happier and there was no fussiness with his head either - a miracle!!!!!!!
New plan - concentrate on getting him to stretch down and getting him a little sharper off the leg, don't worry about/mess with his head for the time being!!!!!!!
You were both very helpful!

He he!!!
Will post some more updates and pictures etc. when I get some more taken!
Also found he didn't try to unbalance me either - he's such a good boy!!!!!!

New & Improved Bailey!!!!!!
I feel a little silly though, I've obviously been having a few disagreements with him and the more he's fought me the more I've 'got hold' of him which is a vicious circle! I can't believe that something as simple as giving him more rein looks to have solved the problem!

Yey!

sounds very productive!!

Some people get stroppy about advice being given on these forums and just say "get lessons" etc.

I've found some of my most thought provoking tips that have helped me develop my thinking about schooling on my own and this forum.

Sometimes when you're on board, riding, it's hard to think of the bigger picture - even in a lesson
