Hi guys. I'm new to this forum stuff but, i'm hoping someone can help me out here.
I was given a Part Bred Welsh Riding/Show Pony.... I'm confused around when to plait and when not to plait.
I plait him when he does Riding/Show pony classes etc and when i take him to welsh shows he goes unplaited as it is usually stated the Part Bred must be shown un plaited.
Last year I competed and East Anglian Native in the Part Bred Welsh Classes but there was no rule to state whether he should or shouldn't be plaited. I chose to plait him, but i was then approached by a fellow competitor who had done the same class the year before and had entered again in the same class with me. She had plaited her pony the previous year and was told by the judge to take the plaits out or she would be asked to leave the class, so the following year (last year) when she competed with me she took her pony in un plaited and advised me to un plait my pony going on her experience from the previous year. (I might add at this point i've only ever shown natives so this whole part bred and show pony thing is new to me! eek) Anyway i went against her advice and left the plaits in, he did win and she came 2nd to me, I then heard the judge tell her that she should have plaited her pony for the class... The complete opposite to the judge from the previous year.
So basically my question is... When you show in a part bred class... and it does not state in the rules whether the pony should be plaited or not.... What do you do!?!?!?!
