being very new to owning my own horse i am unsure of the ettiqute when it comes to part livery (i appreciate every where is slightly different)
but what is the usual that they do for you and what are the basic things usually included.
found a really lovely yard with lovely menage jumps horse walker heaps of turn out lovely hacking very friendly so just want to make sure that i am asking the right questions

again thanks

Check what is and isnt included. I would usually expect basic feed, bedding, forage included, and for 5 days turn out bring in muck out and groom. X

As above I would expect basic feed, forage and bedding included. Jobs wise I would expect turn out, bring in and muck out with any skipping out etc done monday to friday if 5 day, all week if 7 day!

It depends on where you are in the country. If you are down South, part livery, from what I understand includes feed, bedding, turn out, bring in, muck out, but no tack cleaning or exercise - so basically all the hard work done for you.

Where I am in the Northwest, where I've been on part-livery, it seems to include the above, but without the mucking out - and some yards are more like assisted DIY..

In Leics it was £75 a week for everything I have listed 5 day and use of lots of hacking, all year round turnout and use of outdoor school (floodlit and good surface). Down here its more like £100 a week+ depending on facilities (Herts/London)

aghh sorry more questions
does food usually consist of chaff and pony nuts or similar (sugar beet in winter) as well as hay/halage?

where my friend is in the north east, she gets:
turn out, bring in (7 days)
feed, hay, haylage, haynets putting up/taking down, supplements (unless your horse is the only one needing them then you have to buy them) (7 days)
bedding
mucking/skipping out (7 days)
basically everything apart from excercise and tack cleaning.
but for all this is it £75 and the yard is full of posh people that never ride their horses

Woody, the yard I know does pretty much whatever feed you want, I think. Not aure asking for the most expensive wld go down well, but certainly alfa a, hifi, pasture mix, energy nuts etc. That yard is the higher end of pricing but excellent care and good facilities at I think just over 100 pw part livery.

The other thing I would check is if there are any restrictions on using the facilities.

I get haylage and probably more if needed (not), supplements, shavings bedding, haynets, turning out and bring in. I have an outdoor school and cross country course and great hacking for £60 a week. I am never going to move - it is lovely, and the owner is a vet as well!

I pay £105 per week and get:
- All bedding, hay/hayledge, feed(excluding suppliments or balancers)
- Turn out/Bring in
- Mucking out
- Feild clearance
- Tack cleaned(1 saddle and 1 bridle per week)
- feet picked out and legs hosed down if muddy etc, including a general check over
- They also will sort out the farrier and just add to my bill (so charge for bringing her in or paying the farrier etc), bring her in for vets jabs etc.

Facilities:
- Nice fields
- gorgeous stables
- 60 x 20m floodlit school (lights in winter on a token - £1 for 55 min)
- good hacking and close to local competition centres
- RI onsite etc.

Its a very small yard but excellently run and very reasonable for this part of the world (Surrey).
