I am considering pat oning out my horse and as have ever done this before a a litte confsed about what to ask moneywise. He is at a private yard with outdoor sand school, off road hacking, sol use of haybarn/tack room etc - verymuch a come and go as you please sortof place. Happy for him to go out competing etc. Was thinking for loaner to sort say livry and shoes which would be £120 for livery and £60 for shoes for 4 days a week (this is neg) - too much ? too little ?

How many times a week is he available?

Prices vary area to area, so have a google and see what others charge.

Tbh totally flexible on days -was going for say four days a week. Im just too busy with my job to give him the exercise he needs. I have googled but can only find ponies for loan near to me and he is a 17hh TB - thanks for your eply though :)

I don't really understand where a part loan differs from a share? I thought you either loaned a horse whereby loaners take on all costs or had a sharer that pays a set fee per day. I have a sharer who pays £10 per day but a lot local to me are charging £15 per day.

I would have thought a loaner would have total responsibility for the horse on their days and therefore all costs should be split proportionally, whereas a sharer ultimately leaves all decisions and costs to the owner and just pays a set amount per day.

I pay £20 a week for 2 days, one schooling with free lessons from the owner and one hack :) I dont have to muck out as owner wants to!! but I would be happy to anyway. amazing yard with loads of off road hacking & outside massive school!

I think £10 a day is average but depends on how much they get out of it etc :)

I'm probably going to part loan my boy out. I was thinking £80 a month for three times a week and for them to poo pick or muck out on their days too.
I've only got a grassy area in the field to school in and a small amount of off road riding.
It does depend on the area, if someone was paying for a riding lesson that's about £25/30 a time so if you've got good facilities then I think what your asking for is ok, you may have to go halfs on shoes though.

I think that is too much. If I had your horse and the facilities you describe I would think that £140 a month would be a fair price. Depends how experienced your horse is - what kind of ability and the types of competition it is experienced in. If your horse is doing well at medium level dressage for example then you could charge a lot more...

I've said £10 a day and the sharer catches in, mucks out if necessary, turns out. (Catching in and turning out costs £6.50 daily). I turn out and catch in someone else's horse and my fabulous sharer says she'll do that on her days. :)

If you don't have to go up at all and she's saving you fuel, time, service charges and like me, you just want your horse exercised, I think £10 is a good deal all round.

He has shown at county level and done a little affiliated showjumping and dressage - nothing too high level - partly because of time and partly due to no transport. He is no world beater but is good enough to go out and hold his own in ok company :) In all honesty I am happy for him to be theirs as such on the days they have him and would have no intention of appearing on their days as such. Lots to think about so thanks :)

£180 sounds excessive and sounds like 100% livery whereby a lot split it for shares... Depends on where you are I suppose... I pay £50 a month unlimited riding/full loan. If you pay 180, I wound divide by 7 and times by the 4 days you are offering (or however many you decide)

Having shared for over a 10 years i wouldn't pay more that £30 a week for a good horse and facilities, all horse i have share in last 3 years have been free. Sadly a lot of people look for sharers or part loaners to help solve problems with their horses (not saying you are) so people are looking for a good deal as a lot of the time you know you will do a lot of work on top of paying (not saying its a bad thing). I would also look at cost of livery in area as no sharer will pay close to the cost of diy.

My part loaner pays 10 per day for my chap. At the weekends she does all the care for both of mine so I discount this down to 15 per week and she rides 3 times a week.

We also have an agreement that she has one lesson a month with my instructor at her cost and if I want her to have a lesson in Groundwork or something more specific I pay for this.

It works well.
