Hello!

I am just looking to see what those people who have their horses on a "part loan" contribute to.
Basically, my one horse is getting a mother/daughter share 4-5 days a week. I will still be jumping and competing (so I get 1 day a week) him as they just want to hack and have fun. They want to pay for everything, and normally a normal person would say of course, but I am wary...so I want to contribute (I do not want them to turn around and say, but we pay for everything and you want to jump him today...) I will pay for his supplements and vaccinations.
What else would you suggest I pay for?
I am busy putting and agreement together using the BHS template.

I think as you are the owner, you would pay for everything and come to an agreement with what the other party would pay. In France it would be a percentage of the livery (plus chores on those days if required by the livery type) dependent on how many days the share was for, plus part of the shoeing/trimming; but all medical and supplemental feed bills remained the responsibility of the owner. (So if the share was 3 days a week, they would pay half the livery etc).

I think if you allow the other party to pay for the majority, they may start to feel they can start calling the shots.

I would fix their days at 4, then that's 2 each. As TP says above, a fixed rate weekly, maybe paid every fortnight might work best? Add your livery and shoeing bill up, divide into a weekly sum and divide into 7, then they pay 4/7ths of this. You pay insurance, worming and usual vet bills (which is usual)
If you wanted them to have another (5th)day, I'd emphasise that it's a floating day, depending on your riding days (you might ride hard on a Saturday and want to give him a Sunday off etc).

I would have them pay you a set amount rather than set up for them to buy anything directly - otherwise you go down the route of them possibly changing feed, bedding etc. without your agreement. For a 4/5 day a week loan I would probably charge 2/3 of his running costs.
