The idiot that I am, I managed to bend my thumb back on Rosie’s neck whilst jumping on Saturday. Have partially torn a ligament in my thumb. Very sore but not horrendously painful but I guess that’s Rosie getting some extended time off whilst it recovers 😔

Strap it to your hand and ride one handed for a bit.......... ????

Seriously I hope you have been seen in A&E and referred to a hand clinic for treatment and physio.

I did this, so so painful! I heard a crack type noise, thought Id dislocated my thumb as it was mishapen too, so went to A & E and the triage said it didnt need xraying and if it wasnt right in a couple of days??? to go back lol. Obviously it wasnt right but I didnt go back as I'd been made to feel like such a timewaster. Went to my doc 3 weeks later who said thats definately not right, sent for an xray and it wasnt broke, orthaepaedics said it was a ligament tear and that it would get better. Couldnt use it for weeks but it did eventually but I have a lump at the base of my thumb and it bends back more than my other.
Hope yours is better soon.

Hope it improves quickly.

When I damaged my thumb I found getting dressed and undressed very difficult.. Shoelaces were definitely out.

Yes we have direct access physio at work and I’m under them but she doesn’t want to strap it yet because it’s swollen and tender and she thinks it will just further the bruising so is letting it settle for a few days. Yeh I wasn’t leaving this to chance!

Yeh, I’m really looking forward to putting on my uniform shirt and tie tomorrow. Putting my hair in a bun avoiding using a thumb is also interesting!

I wrecked a few ligaments in my hand and thumb earlier in the year. So blinking annoying, couldn't drive, write, type or do up my bra strap lol

Mostly better now

The hospital moulded me a splint which was very helpful and meant I could comfortably ride which was good

I ruptured the tendon off my thumb in the early 200's, and gp said it was nothing even though I told him I could not move it. Now left with A thumb in the wrong position and holding things is hard.

Definitely just the ligament and have a splint now. Physio thinks I might be okay to ride in the splint in about a week. Fingers crossed
