Oh I didn't know you had to put L plates on to tow a trailer?

I thought it was just when going for a full licence or a different category. You can tow a trailer with just a cat B licence can't you or is it dependant on weight? Sorry I'm quite new to driving all round!

Congrats tho!

ummm no you cant pull a horse box on just a B liscence, you are over the weight limit,
i had to take a test ( B+E ), to allow me to tow, and therefore i had to wear L plates, as i was a learner! the examiner couldnt belive it that we got stopped

Assuming that you have to have passed your driving test anyway before you can learn to tow anything...... I pinched the following from a driving test website

[ QUOTE ]

Test vehicle for a car or car and trailer test Category B

Cars or vans presented for test must be a four wheeled vehicle of no more than 3500 kg MAM (Maximum Authorised Mass) capable of a speed of at least 62.5 miles per hour (mph) (100 kilometres per hour (km/h)) be fitted with:

a seatbelt for the examiner
a passenger head restraint, this need not be adjustable but must be fitted as an integral part of the seat. ‘Slip on’ type head restraints are not permissable
an interior mirror for the examiner's use

L-plates displayed on the front and rear of the vehicle but not interfering with the driver or examiner’s view [quote/]

so yes, mr ploddy was wrong..... fgs how would anyone behind you know that you were learning otherwise!!!

You got stopped during your exam?! How funny?! (Although not at the time probably!) I bet that doesn't happen often!

it was just before the actual exam bit started

made me laugh thou, so steadied the nerves

and gave the examiner and I a topic of conversation

Can you tell me how much it cost? My friend had 4 lessons and test and said it cost her £1500!!!! If its that much Dad can take me or I'll drive on L-plates for ever!!!!

It costs 89 pounds for test, i did mine last week but failed cos i didnt put my indicator on when going round a parked car once. Its quite hard to pass! Well done peachesandcream - i'm jealous!!

Well Done! Omg, getting stopping by police in your test!!! I passed mine 5 weeks ago, I got stuck in loads of traffic and a bridge swing and I thought that was stressfull enough!! Are you smiling lots now? I couldn't stop for a few days!

Well done. I failed mine - forget to check my blind spot (every time). Also muffed up the reverse - which I was gutted about cos I could do it at home no problem. Bit the bullet and bought a little lorry instead - much easier and I don't have to hitch and un hitch!
