Passier optimum dressage saddle

God i love passier saddles, they are gorgeous!

but there is not much padding to them so if you are used to a big squishy Albion or similar you may find them uncomfortable to begin with.

I have had a Passier Corona for a year. It fits my horse really well, but to be honest I don't find it offers me much support. For a 17 inch it seems much bigger and the knee rolls may as well be non existent! However I am quite petite and taller people have ridden in it and loved it. So my best advice it to try one out, they are probably not ideal if you're petite as you may feel a bit lost in it!

that is what i mean about no padding- there is no support and no help if you tip off balance or sit crooked etc (not saying you do Dressager!).

i am 5'9ft and a size 10/12 so not petite by any stretch.

Im 5'2 and a size 8 on a 16.3 huge warmblood so this isnt the right saddle for me then. I need all the help i can get, padding and knee rolls to 'sit' to him!!
So if anyone is getting rid of an extra wide dressage saddle that would suit me, please let me know

Hi there,
Yes, in general Passier does not manufacture all saddles with thick knee rolls. However, the Corona II certainly offers good support if this is what you like. Also, do keep in mind the seat size determines the fit for the rider and also the lengths of the saddle flaps. I am 1.60 m and weigh 54 kg even a 17 inch saddle is for me like a boat. For me a good fit is a 16.5 inch and it makes all the difference. Passier also offers longer or shorter saddle flaps. So if your bum requires a 17 inch seat but you have really short legs you can opt for either 2.5 cm or even 5 cm shorter flaps. Likewise if you happen so be very tall but lightweight you can get a 17 inch with 2.5 cm or 5 cm longer flaps. The saddle has to fit the horse but also the rider. If the seat is too big you will not get support from the saddle. If the seat is too small it makes a very uncomfortable ride and puts too much weight on the very back of the saddle and will cause the horse discomfort too. Too long saddle flaps will make it difficult to reach the horse with your legs and too short ones will catch you on the top of your boot.
