Only thing i found about cheaper copies is they don't always have the pullys on the side ansd arfe fixed which kinda defeats the objecct of the pessoa. I bit the bullet and bought the orginal one

I have an Equibalancer off eBay, and although the adjustments are a teeny bit more fiddly than the original Pessoa and the rope isn't as thick, it works perfectly and was only about £25. Well worth it as I use mine all the time!

To be honest as you can get the cheap copies off ebay (with pulleys) for £14 plus postage it is not worth messing around making one.

I have a copy (with the pulleys) and it works just as well as the original expensive ones. Look closely at the pictures and look for the pulleys that clip to the bit, if it doesnt have them then look at ones that do

Try 'parkview saddlery' on ebay shops...... or type in training aid and look for the one with merlin advertising in the pics.... it will say in the write up that its him.

Tell Mary that you were recommended by merlins owner sarah :)

I love mine!!!

I got my 'cheap copy' off ebay as well. Bought it second hand, it does not have the nice thick white rope of the original pessoa but it is easily adjusted with pulleys and cost me just £6. !!!!

Well worth spending a bit of time hunting on ebay IMO.

I am very happy with Equibalancer I bought from Ebay - you probably are aware (but i wasn't

) this particular Pessoa copy does NOT come with a roller - so seemed very cheap until i had to buy a lungeing roller (M Todd Very good). Also the first couple of times it takes alot of patience from you and the horse (and person holding the horse) to put the d*mn thing on. These days as i take it off i knot & fold all the bits of rope and then it makes it quicker and easier for me to put it on! Good luck.

The original does'nt come with a roller either.

The only ebay copy I have seen is identical to my original pessoa- the only difference is that the sheepskin at the back does'nt come off so you can't wash it if it gets poo-ed on and also the back strap is just rope and not a lenght of rubber like the original.

Have you looked at the JW one? It's about £60 but also comes with a roller. Never seen one so can't comment but could be an option to look into?!

I got a £12.99 copy from Ebay, didnt see the point in getting a more expensive one when I had never used one and didnt know how my horses would respond to it. Its been used loads in last 4 weeks, works a treat and is easy to adjust. I got a roller from Ebay for a tenner at the same time.

If i ever have to get another one then I'll spend a bit more but for now this one works a treat!

I have a cheaper Ebay one. Its very good and works well. The only thing I find a pain in the butt is that to change the length of the pulleys I have to tie knots in it to shorten! I think on the real Pessoa, you can change the length by clipping it along?

Hi, a friend bought a cheap version from Ebay and I borrowed it. After about 10 mins, the bloomin ropes came undone from inside the sheepskin! Ropes flying everywhere. I knotted it securely before giving it back to my friend.
I liked how it worked before it broke, so I looked round and someone on here said that they had the John Whitaker one. I love the colours and the rope is a lovely quality and comes with a roller. It was £68 but it is good strong quality.
There are some on ebay with ropes and some with webbing, its up to the individual to decide what they prefer.
