Hi Please could anyone give advise

I have a 2 year old filly whom i bought at 6 months old with an oakdale passport, i sent the passport off to have change of ownership details ammended and i had also had the filly microchipped.

Passport came back with all details ammended but when i tried to log microchip info with database they couldnt find the horse under her passport number.

Anyway i have recently mislaid the passport (well hubby has ) and so i phoned for a duplicate to be issued, i have received a letter today from oakdale informing me they have no details on horse and so i will need to apply for new passport.

So 2 questions.....why would they have changed ownership a year ago and not questioned there being no details on horse

Question2 ... can i go to different issuer for new passport or will i have to stay with oakdale ?

Thanks in advance for any info

This sounds very dodgey! I wouldn't be very happy atall!! I would really root around to try and find her passport, did you have to get a vet to come out to issue/verify the passport? Maybe they could vouch for you that had one,as they issued it? it can't of just vanished. Very strange!

But if u can't find it then I don't see why you can't apply for another passport with another company, if they're claimimg to have no information on your horse then surely it doesn't matter if you go with someone else as you'll be starting from stratch? I use Pet-ID but i'm sure there are loads of others out there.

Sorry I haven't been of much help!!

hi yes vet has all vacc and microchip details and the vet gave me the passport number but oakdale insist this number isnt on their database and neither is my horse ?

Im just confused as to why they changed ownership details last year without logging it onto their system as im assuming if they did it would have shown as incorrect or not existing then.!!

Off to search the house!

If you have the vets data on micro chipping, which goes through a differant company, they have the passport number the vet has to write it all down, so back to Oakdales, tell them you have the data, They are responsable for the upkeep of all their data including your passport or report them to DEFRA:(

Have you made a thorough check on NED? I'm wondering if you have a digit wrong in the microchip number, really could be as easy as that.

Not very helpful I know but did a Marian Fielding sign the original Oakdale passport?

If this does not sort out--please take your problem to Trading Standards locally as well as DEFRA

Well after 3 more conversations with oakdale they now say they have posted out a duplicate and have found my horses details and passport number matches the one the vet had recorded....however when i tried searching my horse on ned website no horse details and passport number shows no result.

Very strange and yes i think it may have been marion fielding who signed the original.

Thanks

My foal who was passported in December 2009 still isn't on NED so I'm not surprised your's doesn't show up.

Re comment about horse re-passported in Dec 09 and it not showing up on NED. I had the same problem and had no satisfactory reply from the passport issuing organisation. I raised a topic on this forum and someone from NED kindly posted a reply saying that despite chasing the organisation concerned, no updates had been forthcoming for 12 months! I emailed their reply back to the passport issuing organisation and today received a reply from them saying that they had been working with a NED representative to solve problems with their database and that following some updates details should be appearing on the NED database soon.

My advice would be to keep nagging the passport organisation/breed society until you get an answer. Don't just email their passport officer, inform the Chairman as they shold have visibility of what is happening in their organisation. NED advised me that it is a condition set by DEFRA that all passport issuing organisations must update NED on a monthly basis with passport changes. I guess that with the number of organisations in the UK who are eligible to issue passports my experience is not unique.
