The new Ginger ones passport doesnt seem to match, been so busy with her and the other two havent had a proper sit down for ages lol She was passported at 2 months old and has a photo of her in passport
Passport states 4 white stockings she has 3,

states four white feet she has 3 white, 1 black

has two white patches on belly and one on her jaw these arent mentioned on passport.

Birdcatcher spots are not on passport, neither are bend-or spots (think thats what theyre called)

Am starting to think big ponio has a dodgy passport, passports for my other girls all have vets details (practice name and contact details) this one doesnt.

Any ideas? Am planning on writing to owner but was going to contact vet but seeing as no details I cant :(

I did want to register her elsewhere too because she`s currently got a veteran society passport.

I think at 2 months old, a lot of foals aren't even showing their final coat colour, let alone white markings, as their baby fur tends to blend into white socks, especially if they're chestnut.

Strange that you've got a photo in your passport. Is that a new thing?

Fair enough on colour but what about 3 white feet and one black?

I havent seen photos before either but veteran horse society asks for them which I think is a pretty good idea, plus I can see what she was like as a baby :)

i`m probably just being paranoid because she`s from a sale and owner sent a "friend" to sell her

My pony had her passport done at 8 months. Then at 5 had to gave it written over as she had changed si much.
Is your horse micro chipped?
Get her scanned even if you think she isn't and speak to previous owner and breeder if possible.

My section A was a steel grey with white tail, black mane and a white stripe and 4 white stockings, if you look at her passport this is her description, she is now fleabitten grey with white main and tail, can't see her white markings at all:eek:. One hoof has now developed a black stripe. Had her 12yrs since she was yearling. Thank goodness I have no intention of selling her, will take some explaining lol

She just missed the date for all horse to be mircochipped so nothing in PP but vets coming out soon because have no record of vacs so will get them to check for microchip.

Before microchipping became compulsory if you wanted a passport for your horse you could get one from the Veteran Horse Society without having a vet to do all the identification.

I think they used to ask for a photo of each side of the horse just so they could check for glaring differences. You should be able to see her hoof colour in the photo.

It might be a 'dodgy' passport but equally the original owner might not have done a very good job of recording all the details and as other people have said coat colours can change alot.

Foot colour and white markings (socks, belly colour) don't change, so yes, I think you're passport is dodgy.

How long have you had her? Did you buy her from a dealer?

VHS does require two photos for identification when registering with them.

If you give Julie Ann a ring at VHS head office she will be able to help you.

I went to see a mare last year & her passport said 4 white socks nearly to the knee, she was a plain chestnut. I pointed this out to the seller who blithly replied' I can get you a passport that will match'. Buyer beware. I left at that point.

Could be a genuine mistake, I bought a foal at a sale and when the passport came the breeding was correct but the markings were nothing like the foal, bay instead of grey. We checked with the sales company and the breeder and it turned out he had two foals and he hadnt noticed that his vet had put the wrong markings with the pedigrees on the marking sheets. We bred a horse that was jet black as a foal with a white face and 3 white socks and when he was marking him the vet said that he would go grey, mum and dad both grey and he had a grey muzzle, but when he was jumping as a 7 year old he was still jet black with a passport that said he was grey!:D (whorls would have been correct of course). We were marking a foal last year that was a very pale chestnut with pale legs and white feet and we were trying to decide if she'd have a white socks or not, decided not and as a yearling she has no white on her legs and black feet :).
