Have recently acquired a horse from a very reputable person who had bought said horse as almost a rescue from a very dodgy person, as she felt sorry for it, earlier this year.
When I got horse and passport home, was suprised to find that passport was for a 14.1 new forest pony when said horse is at least 15h and looks full TB!
it was a pet id microchip passport so borrowed scanner from work today, low and behold this horse has no microchip-so def not its passport!
Am a bit stumped as to what to do now?
Had already written to person to whom passport was issued originally, to see if they had any history on horse, but obv not that horse anyway!
I suppose I can get new passport for this horse, just wondered whose passport I have?
All bit odd!

First off, does your scanner read any chip as that has been a problem in the past and did you scan everywhere as it's been known they can move? If no problem with your scanner then next step is to contact who first registered the pony, maybe send them some pictures to make sure it is or isn't the pony concerned and if it's not, was there a chance they had they given the wrong passport when pony was sold? Do the ages match even if the passport is wrong?
If all those are negative then think you can only apply for a new passport but I would be inclined to ask either NED or TS for clarification first to make sure you are on the right side of the law.
You will have to micro chip and get a vet sketch done of course and start a new course of flu/tet jabs as you can't be sure the ones included (if any) in that passport relate to your horse.
I would be very tempted to use SHBGB for an ID passport above anyone else as they are much better quality and more respected than other firms. There are some I wouldn't touch with a long bargepole but can't say who because I've had my knuckles rapped for saying so!

Will be interested in how it all pans out.
