So first of all, I'm really, really rubbish at life admin, so no judgement please.

Bought my (then unbroken) 4yr KWPN mare in Feb, she was imported in Jan. Was told to get her overstamped with AES and not to send to KWPN as will likely never see passport again. Of course I've done neither and we are now in September.....

So question if anyone has experience here and can speak for either route? Additionally, with BD I know they automatically get points if imported, what evidence do I need to show that she was unbroken at the time to reset this? I'm trying to think ahead here 🤣 looking at her passport there is absolutely nothing in it to show she was imported and when.

Thank you!!

No judgement here, I'm also rubbish at life admin! Not sure about the passport issue, but pretty sure that horses imported at 4 dont receive any automatic points.

This was off the BD page, it won't let me link for some reason

Ah amazing, so we are good on the BD front then. I found something to suggest vaccination records can be used to prove when they were imported.

Now to get my lazy behind in gear and get passport sent off 🤣

I think its much harder to grade horses over 5yrs as they're subject to a ridden assessment costing £75. A previous livery i knew did this. They wanted to put her horse in at elementary but she said she'd only ever done a walk and trot test, argued the toss and they gave her only 1 BD point in the end.

All my horses have been imported. I have competed both BSJA and BD and never had any passports overstamped. For BSJA Usually when you register them with BSJA you need to write to the associations in various European countries via email, they confirm in writing in they have ever had any winnings. Otherwise yes they grade them with notional winnings depending on age.

I can’t be sure with BD as my imported Belgian horse was registered when I bought him. His passport doesn’t have any over stamping. He also does not have any import points- so I assume his previous owner managed to get them taken off. Just phone BD and they can tell you.

Maybe now we have left the EU something needs to be done- but I haven’t ever sent any of my passports off for 25 years. I do seem to remember back in 2005 a Belgian horse of mine did have his papers stamped, and I ended up having to obtain a BSJA passport when the passport thing came in

I got my new ISH passport overstamped by AES last month for change of ownership. Very easy form to fill in, then £30 BACS and posted the passport recorded delivery and in was back within 10 days.
