Ive emailed the passport people my question but im an impatient person. Person i bought horse off didnt change passport to their name, is it going to cause problems transferring it to my name?

ok cheers it says on the change of ownership form that not filling in the sellers details may result in a delay of 6 weeks. Doesnt say why though.

None at all. I just bought a horse from someone who had never changed owner details on the passport. It was a Weatherby ID passport and I just filled in my details on the change of ownership form, sent it off first class and I received the passport back 4 days later.

Person I bought pony from hadn't changed into their name. I wrote to PO and advised her details along with my completed form and they added her then me, so all ponys owners are correctly stated in her passport

Passport is not a document of ownership.
Ownership recorded is useful but not essential.
The passport is primarily about the horse rather than the owner.

Any society registration papers
are the important ones to have owners details on.

It is a legal requirement to change the ownership with the Passport Issuer within 30 days and it might be a godsend in the future to show that you owned the horse from a certain date if there are ownership disputes or prosecutions .
