TGCA now offer DEFRA approved passport service for traditional gypsy cobs. This is a very exciting step forward. Forms are available on the TGCA website. Now your cobs can have their pedigree recorded

Just thought those people who had the Gypsy Cob Society passports and were wanting a passport for the Gypsy Cob might be interested in this. The Traditional Gypsy Cob Association are now where you want to go to have your gypsy cob passported and they can include details of their breeding.

If you have a gypsy cob, please support them. It is not a coloured association but a gypsy cob association - at last a place for those with solid coloured gypsy cobs.

You can have the CHAPS passport overstamped with a TGCA stamp but legally you are stuck with the one you have.

I did manage to have Farra's passport changed to a Clydesdale Society one. It did take a bit of work but I got Weatherbys to agree to cancel their one and let her have the Clydesdale one as she is a rare breed and I wanted her passport to show she was a registered Clydesdale and her breeding on it.

I think it was only because she was a rare breed that they allowed it.

There again there are a lot of horses that have lost their passports and got new ones so really a passport is not worth the paper it is written on.
