Nitty still hasn't had her passport changed over to me yet so I am chasing it up. She also needs a name putting in it so suggestions gratefully received :)

Anywho, although I know her breeding it isn't in her passport. Her last owner lost the covering slip for her. Is it, in your opinion, worth DNA testing and getting it filled in or shall I just leave it as is?

For the record she is a bog standard TB (but weirdly is registered with the sport horse breeding of GB people) out of a mare called Caposo and by Green Horizon. So not awfully bred but likewise nothing too dazzling. It's annoying that the Animal Health Trust, who bred her, didn't bother to do this as a foal but hey ho. What can you do?

Also, anyone have any idea how much it costs to have DNA tests done. Annoyingly I am a molecular biologist and could do it myself but I don't think my results would be recognised by the passporting agency!

A long shot but is there any way the SHB(GB) could help? My mare's breeding is already in her passport which SHB(GB) overstamped for me but because I am a twit I still went into the office to check if they required DNA testing (they didn't). Just wondering if it worked the other way round so that as she is registered with SHB(GB) whether they can help you certify her breeding without the need for DNA tests to prove what her registration already confirms?

I emailed them to see if they knew anything too. Presumably they most have some idea as they were happy to give her one of their nice shiny green passports! Unless they aren't picky in which case they won't know either I don't suppose!
